Sunday, August 28, 2022, 12:00-9:00 PM EST, we celebrate the 10th Annual Hug Detroit Day, a community service supported by Nicole Freeman Management Co., the City of ArtZ, LEEP, the Islamic Center of Detroit - Sufian Nabhan, Tangent Gallery, Vanguard Community Development Corporation and many others. This FREE event will be held at the Black Bottom Park, Hastings Street, (between Milwaukee & Grand Blvd.), Detroit, MI as they celebrate and announce the Grand Reopening of the Black Bottom Park, (https://detroithistorical.org/learn/encyclopedia-of-detroit/black-bottom-neighborhood).
Hug Detroit Day kicks off with a dance celebration featuring a collage of ethnic dancers. We will also host the Hug Detroit Day Spirit Awards at this year's Hug Detroit Day.
Bring backpacks & school supplies for our youth ... can goods & non perishable items are welcome. We will showcase an Art Exhibit that features live painting demos, the Author's Corner, musical, poetry, dance performances and more. Feel free to bring small tents, picnic baskets, coolers, blankets and chairs. Dress comfortably. We will have family games to play and a wonderful group of sponsors to make the day even greater.
The Art Exhibit will be curated by Colibri Shontaa.
